VEA-managed
Managed payroll for Vermont employers
VEA prepares each payroll, sends it to you for review, and processes it after your approval — designed to reduce the payroll administration your team handles directly.
VEA-managed. Performed by VEA's payroll team.
How a pay period runs
The same three steps every period, with your approval as the gate.
Step 1: You send us what changed
New hires, hours, rate changes, bonuses, time off. If your time data feeds payroll, approved hours come across without anyone rekeying them.
Step 2: We prepare and you approve
We build the payroll and send you a preview to check before anything moves. Nothing is processed until you have approved it.
Step 3: We process and report
Employees are paid, payroll tax deposits and filings are handled within your agreed scope, and your reports are ready when you need them.
The exact steps for your business are confirmed during onboarding.
What stays yours, and what becomes ours
The clearest way to understand a managed service is to see where the line falls.
You keep
- Deciding what people are paid and when
- Approving each payroll before it is processed
- Telling us about hires, leavers and changes
- Legal responsibility for your payroll tax obligations
We take on
- Building and checking the payroll each period
- Processing payments after your approval
- Payroll tax deposits and filings within your agreed scope
- Reports, year-end forms, and the questions in between
Common questions
A service we run. You tell us what changed this period, we prepare the payroll and send you a preview, and we process it once you approve. There is a platform behind it that you and your employees can log into, but operating it is our job rather than yours.
Whatever changed: new hires, terminations, hours if they do not already flow through from timekeeping, rate changes, bonuses, and time off. If nothing changed, a salaried payroll can run from the previous period without you sending anything.
Tell us before you approve and we correct it before anything is processed. That is what the preview step is for. Corrections found after processing are handled too, but they are more involved, which is why the approval step exists.
Yes. Employees reach their own paystubs and year-end forms through the payroll platform, so routine document requests do not come back through your office.
Talk to the people who would run your payroll.
Tell us how you pay people today. We come back with a quote, a clear scope and a switching plan.
