Most payroll corrections do not start in payroll. They start in how hours reached it.

When hours are collected one way and entered into payroll another way, every pay period contains a transcription step. Transcription steps produce errors at a small but steady rate, and payroll is one of the few places where a small steady error rate is genuinely expensive — each one is someone’s pay, and fixing it after the fact can mean an off-cycle payment and an amended filing.

When approved time flows directly into the pay run, that step disappears. The hours in payroll are the hours you approved, and the approval is the control rather than the re-entry.
