Why VEA

The differences that show up on a bad week

Every payroll provider looks similar when payroll runs normally. These are the things that differ when it does not — and the things we are not claiming yet.

Where we are different

Specific operating choices, not adjectives.
  • We do the work, you approve it

The service is built around us preparing the payroll and you checking it, rather than giving you a tool and a help centre. The approval step is a control, not a formality — it is the last cheap moment to catch something.

  • Delivery responsibility is labelled

Every service on this site says whether VEA performs it, the payroll platform provides it, or a regulated partner delivers it. You should not have to work out who to call when something breaks.

  • Migration is its own piece of work

Year-to-date reconciliation happens as a distinct stage with its own verification, before the first live payroll — not quietly in the background of it.

  • Scope is written down

Your quote sets out what is included, what is billed separately and what the separate items cost. The list of possible charges is not something you discover on an invoice.

  • We say no in writing

Certified payroll, prevailing wage, union reporting, grant accounting — we will not advertise a workflow before it has been confirmed for your situation. Our industry pages say so explicitly.

  • Vermont is the home market, not a landing page

We are built for Vermont employers first, and we will tell you when a state is outside our coverage rather than taking you through onboarding to find out.

What we are not claiming

We are not going to tell you payroll will be error-free, that compliance is guaranteed, or that you will never see a penalty notice. Those claims are common and none of them are within a provider’s control.

We are not publishing a response-time promise until we are staffed and measuring against it, and we are not showing customer quotes until we have permission to use them. When those things are true, they will appear here with names attached.

And we will not tell you that using a payroll service moves your payroll tax responsibility off your business. Under an ordinary payroll service arrangement it generally does not, whoever you use.

Talk to the people who would run your payroll.

Tell us how you pay people today. We come back with a quote, a clear scope and a switching plan.
