Payroll for Vermont businesses that have outgrown doing it themselves

There is a stage most growing employers reach where payroll is no longer quick, not yet complicated enough to hire for, and increasingly the thing nobody wants to be responsible for. That is the stage we are built for.

What this usually looks like

If several of these sound familiar, payroll has probably outgrown its current arrangement.
  • Payroll takes half a day that used to take twenty minutes.

  • One person knows how it works, and they would like a holiday.

  • A tax notice arrived and nobody was sure who should deal with it.

  • Someone moved out of state and it turned into a project.

  • You are hand-entering hours from timesheets every period.

  • The bill has items on it that were not in the original quote.

Where we fit best

Roughly five to fifty employees. That is not a rule so much as where the service earns its keep.

Under five employees

Often well served by self-service software. We will say so if that is our honest read, and we support smaller employers where a managed service genuinely makes sense — single-owner S corporations, for instance.

Five to fifty employees

The core of what we do. Enough complexity that payroll needs real attention, not enough to justify hiring someone in-house for it.

Fifty and above

We support larger employers where the requirements fit what we can deliver well. We will be straight with you during discovery about where our limits are.

Who we usually talk to

Owners, office managers, controllers, bookkeepers, operations managers and nonprofit administrators — and fairly often an external accountant who has been asked to recommend someone. If you are the accountant, the provider comparison guide is written for exactly that conversation.

Common questions

We work best with employers from around five employees upward, and we do support smaller. Below that, good self-service software is often genuinely the right answer, and we will tell you if we think so rather than selling you a service you do not need yet.
